Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip have fired at least seven rockets at southern Israel, including one that landed near a daycare center. As Robert Berger reports from Jerusalem, residents are accusing the Israeli government of failing to protect them.

There was panic as a Palestinian rocket slammed into a courtyard near a crowded daycare center in the hard hit Israeli town of Sderot, near the Gaza border. None of the 15 children were hurt, but for worried parents it was too close for comfort. It was the second day of school, and the second day in a row that that the city has come under rocket fire.
Shlomit Eckstein, a mother of six, told Israel Radio that there are eight daycare centers in Sderot and none have been fortified against rocket attacks. But Eckstein said protecting buildings is not enough.
Like many residents, she says that the only way to stop the rockets is to launch a major military operation in Gaza.
In Jerusalem, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert warned that the rocket attacks would not be tolerated. "The army has been instructed to destroy all rocket launchers and target anyone involved in the attacks," he said.
Nevertheless, Israel pulled out of heavily-populated Gaza two years ago, and the government is no hurry to send the army back in. Officials say a major ground offensive is not on the agenda.

August 28, 2006 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The National Press Club was today the scene of a Wahhabist disinformation operation, finding CAIR the Saudi funded Council on American Islamic Relations underwriting a "discussion" of Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer's "The Israel Lobby" - a failed attempt to put a scholarly face on anti-Semitism.
While all eyes are focused on Islamist terrorism and the rising tide of fundamentalism which has threatened the West, CAIR has attempted to change the message to the old Nazi canard of "Die Juden Sind Unsere Ungluck" - "the Jews are our misfortune."
In what CAIR hopes will be a propaganda coup, today's dog and pony show enlisted the services of useful idiots Mearscheimer and Walt who set forth the proposition that Israel is to blame for the existence of terrorism and a closely held - and thoroughly nonsensical - corollary, that any strong response by the West to terror only makes it worse.
Of great note - neither of the presenters had the temerity to employ the term "Islamic terror," within earshot of their CAIR handlers who shared the dais with them.
This is one of the complications that arise when those funding your venue operate in such close proximity to the terrorists. Such conflicts of interest are what lead to Mearsheimer's intentional and profound mischaracterization of the terrorist threat against the West as only coming from al-Qaeda and therefore only requiring police level actions against the Saudi born bin-Laden's network.
The necessity of ignoring the much greater threat posed by Muslim fundamentalists - those underwriting Walt & Mearsheimer's road show - puts in rather obvious focus a fatal defect to any claims by these two of serious scholarship.
In a presentation, which five years ago would have had to have taken place in a clandestine gathering of Storm Front types - discussing Jewish plans for world domination - professors Walt and Mearscheimer put their anti-Semitic venom at the service of CAIR a group only a wink and a nod away from Hamas.
That such a gathering took place at DC's National Press Club is proof that anti-Semitism has become "salon fahig" in the U.S. It also demonstrates the degree to which the American left are willing be employed as part of a Wahhabist da'wa scam whose ultimate goal is the imposition of Sharia on the United States.
Today's event was part of an ambitious Wahhabist financed effort to sway public opinion at a time when Muslim terror plots are being uncovered at an alarming rate, CAIR serving as the bagman in a huge PR campaign financed by Arab fundamentalists.
"A US delegation led by CAIR officials yesterday held discussions with Al Habtoor group chairman Khalaf Al Habtoor and other businessmen in Dubai about a $50-million public relations campaign that the US group has launched in the US to change negative public perceptions about Islam.
'It is the most ambitious public relations campaign anywhere in the world that the Muslims have thought about to change perceptions about Islam,' Ahmad said, calling on Arab businesses to make contributions towards the campaign that will run for five years.
'Do not think about your contributions as donations. Think about it from the perspective of rate of return. The investment of $50 million will give you billions of dollars in return for 50 years,' the CAIR official said." Gulf News, Arabs urged to invest in image-building in US Mearsheimer and Walt's work merely recapitulates the anti-Semitic rants of delusional moonbats like the above pictured Paul Findley who - not surprisingly - also waters at the trough of Middle Eastern Islamist funders and who dismissed and minimized the September 11 attack - "the real ground zero of terrorism is in Palestine, not Manhattan" - in the same manner Walt and Mearshimer ignore the danger of which al-Qaeda is only a figurehead.
Throughout the hour-long rambling press conference Mr. Walt and Mearsheimer suggested that Israel was a terrorist state, intentionally employed policies which resulted in atrocities and knowingly directed attacks against civilian population centers. Their conclusion being that Israel is an enterprise run - of, by and for war criminals.
They agreed with "studies" by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International claiming that Hezbollah did not place offensive weaponry among civilians in Lebanon and did not have a policy of using civilians as human shields for their operations - a bald-faced lie.
Walt claimed that though Israel did not act worse than terrorists "neither has it acted better" invoking a moral equivalency of pathological proportions.
The CAIR/Walt/Mearsheimer position is that terrorism exists as a legitimate and justifiable response to American support of Israel.
Taken to its logical extension, using the calculus advanced today at CAIR's mini-kristallnacht, Islamism is the antidote for Israel, take two and call me after the Holocaust.

Here we go again, CNN's [Islamized] Christianne Amanpour has done it again, not only is she not calling the Islamists butchers by their names, but she even attempts in categorizing the killing/torturing/maiming for Allah with 'ANY' religion.
How could she get away with this enormous twisting of truth?
Not until these journalists will manage to:
* Find Christian, Jewish or even Buddhist or Hindu force that "wants to drink the blood of Muslims".
* Hear non Muslim clerics that it's "OK to kill people from other faiths, for no reason at all".
* Note a global movement of another religion that is acting towards global domination repression by force.
* Hear teaching toddlers that people outside certain faith are "apes & pigs", or "cows".
There's something about middle eastern journalists [asides from brave authentic Christians (as opposed to Islamized ones) or most Israelis], that their bakground tells them to apologize & sweeten up the Islamic mass murderers.
If you noticed it, it's the main motive in turning a blind eye to anti Israel fascists like 'Palestinian' Jihadists or Hezbullah when it's no secret why/how their kids die, but you will hear these type of "journalists" acting/crying about "civilians" dying in Lebanon or in Israel/ "palestine", no matter if they work for the biased BBC or for CNN, they will never find the moment to explain, to tell the obvious, who's really at fault of Arab kids dying, spitting it out about the guilty Arab Muslim parents, teachers, clerics & terror masters, the cult of child sacrifice to gain "victimhood" status in world TV circus, just another pan side of the "glorious" bloody Jihad.
These journalists will also not air a "program" on why Iraq operation is so hard, starting from the most important point, the Arab Muslim culture of intolerance.
Much less can you expect them to talk about the main issue, the evil in mainstream Islam, that apologizes, excuses & even motivates the word wide terrorism in the name of Muhammad, Quran, Islam & Allah.
Yes PC no PC to talk about an "entire population", still never has any saying in reality & facts, 'that mainstream Islam has a real problem', try imagining Christianne Amanpour ever to utter such a sentence.
So instead of telling the truth about mainstream Islam, she goes as far as to butter up for radical Islam or trivializing it as "just another religious fanatics group", the outrage cries up to heaven to the real truthful God!

Who needs Israel anyway?

The above question, either in word or implication, is being voiced by way too many these days, as people and governments cast about desperately for lasting solutions in the Middle East.
Many Western and European political leaders – having heard the deprecations and the determination to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, from the likes of Palestinian Yasser Arafat, Saudi Arabian Osama bin Laden, Iraq's Saddam Hussein, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and so many other power brokers in the region – have come dangerously close to deciding that little Israel is the "thorn in the side" of world order.
The next logical thought is: "Who needs Israel? Let her be erased, her people dispersed (or whatever), and the Middle East can settle comfortably into a harmonious Islamic community of states. Problem solved!"
What folly. What suicidal blindness.
I just returned from a momentous event in our nation's capital. An organization called Christians United for Israel, or CUFI, convened 4,000 people from all 50 states in several days of briefings and strategy sessions, culminating in an exhilarating, rousing rally in the D.C. Convention Center featuring Jewish leaders and top Christian ministers celebrating the things we hold in common and the spiritual bonds that unite us. The next day, several thousand of the participants fanned out over Washington and Capitol Hill, lobbying virtually every representative and senator on behalf of Israel and its sovereignty.
Why? Couldn't we all see this is an exercise in futility, an unnecessary bother … that we'd all be better off if Israel didn't exist?
No, we all see clearly that the world needs Israel. The whole world.
What do I mean? Consider:
* Israel, the 100th smallest country, with less than 1/1000th of the world's population, can make claim to an astounding number of society's advances in almost every direction!
Intel's new multi-core processor was completely developed at facilities in Israel.
* And our ubiquitous cell phone was developed in Israel by Motorola, which has its largest development center in the little land.
* Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology was pioneered in Israel.
AirTrain JFK – the 8.1-mile light rail labyrinth that connects JFK Airport to NYC's mass transit – is protected by the Israeli-developed Nextiva surveillance system.
* Bill Gates calls Israel "a major player in the high-tech world"; most of Windows NT operating system was developed by Microsoft-Israel; the Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel; both Microsoft and Cisco built their only R&D facilities outside the U.S. in Israel; and, with more than 3,000 high-tech companies and start-ups, Israel has the highest concentration of high-tech companies in the world apart from the Silicon Valley.
* Get this: Israel leads the world in the number of scientists and technicians in the workforce, with 145 per 10,000, as opposed to 85 in the U.S., over 70 in Japan, and less than 60 in Germany. With over 25 percent of its workforce employed in technical professions, Israel places first in this category as well!
It goes on and on.
* The Weizmann Institute of Science has been voted "the best university in the world for life scientists to conduct research." Israeli researchers have:
Discovered the molecular trigger that causes psoriasis.
Developed the Ex-Press shunt to provide relief for glaucoma sufferers.
Unveiled a blood test that diagnoses heart attacks ... by telephone!
Found a combination of electrical stimulation and chemotherapy that makes cancerous metastases disappear – and developed the first fully computerized, no-radiation, diagnostic instrumentation for breast cancer!
Designed the first flight system to protect passenger and freighter aircraft against missile attack.
Developed the first ingestible video camera – so small it fits inside a pill – used to
view the small intestine from the inside, enabling doctors to diagnose cancer
and digestive disorders!
Perfected a new device that directly helps the heart pump blood, an innovation with the potential to save lives among those
with congestive heart failure, synchronizing the heart's mechanical operations
through a sophisticated system of sensors.
These are only a few of Israel's
recent contributions to the welfare of the world. There are just too many to
list here. Water shortage, global warming, space travel, anti-virus,
anti-smallpox, blood pressure, solar power, paralysis, diabetes, data storage –
these and hundreds more – are being addressed by Israel's scientists. They're
pioneering in DNA research, using tiny strands to create human transistors that
can literally build themselves – and playing an important role in identifying a
defective gene that causes a rare and usually fatal disease in Arab infants!
WHO NEEDS ISRAEL? WHO DOESN'T ?
Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation by a large margin; it has the largest number of startup companies globally, second only to the U.S.; it is No. 2 in the world for venture capital funds, financing all these advances; its $100 billion economy is larger than all of its immediate neighbors combined; and Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East.
And while it maintains, by far, the highest average living standards and per-capita income, exceeding even those of the UK, Israel is the largest immigrant-absorbing nation on earth, relative to its population. It is truly an unparalleled marvel of our time.
So what's the point of all this?
Simply that the very idea of eradicating or even displacing Israel from its historic home is suicidal to the rest of the world, not just her Arabic neighbors. Though there are ominous biblical consequences pronounced on those who "curse Israel," there are also wonderful blessings promised those who "bless" her – and we're seeing those real, practical, humanitarian blessings proliferate around the world, blessing all humanity.
Stop just for a second and imagine a world today that never knew Israel. And then go further: Given their living standards, ideologies and attitudes toward all who dare to disagree with them, imagine what our world would be like if Israel's enemies held sway. Would you rather live in an Iran, Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan? Or an Israel?
Who needs Israel? Let's be honest. We all do.
